What microcement is
Microcement is a thin cement-based coating applied by hand in several layers and then sealed. It gives a continuous finish with no grout lines, and it can often go over existing tiles or concrete, which saves demolition.
Where it works well
- Feature walls and living areas
- Floors
- Benchtops and vanities
- Stairs and shopfronts
Wet areas
In bathrooms and showers, the waterproofing has to be done by a waterproofer before microcement goes on. We do not do waterproofing ourselves. We prepare the walls ready for the waterproofer, then apply and seal the microcement after.
Experience
Damien has worked with microcement for many years, in France and now in Perth. Every job starts with a sample so you can see the colour and texture before we commit.

Common questions
Can microcement go over tiles?
Often yes, if the tiles are solid and well bonded. We check them first.
Is microcement waterproof?
The sealed surface resists water, but in wet areas a proper waterproofing membrane must be installed by a waterproofer first.
How long does it take?
It is applied in several coats with drying time between them, so most jobs take a few days.
